Court Date Still Pending

We could put a few thousand words on here about the process and Interpol, but will keep it simple. Thanks to the good work of our facilitator back in Kyiv, our Interpol clearance was approved on 7/06- but- it then gets mailed across town to the SDA office. We did offer to pay for a courier from office to office, but that is something that is just not typically done here. We do hope that it can be received by the SDA on Wed. and it could then be put along with our approval on a flight to Severodonetsk and we could go to court on Thursday 7/08. It seems that the worst case would be court on 7/12. At this point, the days are kind of blending into each other and we just want to get this next step completed. After the first court date, there is a 10 day waiting period and then you pick up the court decree, pick up a new passport with the new name Sergei Loundas on it, get his medical records, birth certificate, then Dana will fly to Kyiv with Sergei to outprocess through the US Embassy. After the decree, those last steps take between 4-6 days.

Craig has a flight booked for Thursday night 7/08...this was the liberal date that we thought we gave us plenty of room, so if we are going later, that all has to be switched. YUK. Craig was talking to Evan last night about the lack of contol in the process and got reminded that not everything always falls perfectly into place.

Sergei is having a lot of fun at camp, which is the upside. They have a lot of room to play, some type of show or performance each night, and a good chance to connect with his friends. We have the cab ride down pat now and know every bump and pothole in the road on the trip out there. You can see from the photo that the Gameboy we brought over is a hit and the kids have learned the game boy pose we know back in the US.

For a little something different, Craig woke up with a puffy eye yesterday and we thought it would be better to get it checked rather than wait. Our adventure ended up at the local hospital, diagnosis of NOT pink eye, but just a "cold in the eye" (they blame a/c for many things over here), but appears to be moving along in the right recovery direction. Total cost- including the cab ride with the nurse who came to get us, physician and prescriptions--- $22.50
